Frame & Sash Materials at GlassBuild
An advanced fiber glass technology based on materials from Bayer MaterialScience, Rovex is a polyurethane composite technology that includes bio-based materials and offers superior structural, thermal, and environmental performance. Launched by Deceuninck North America at GlassBuild, the material which the supplier has been using in its Innergy thermal reinforcements, is being show in the sash of the Icon 8000 Series door. The first in series of new window and door systems to make use of the technology, which offers strength, stability and flexibility without using styrene or peroxide, making the end product an alternative to aluminum and traditional polyester fiberglass composites.
Also shown in Atlanta were new configurations of its Revolution Tilt-and-Turn window system. With a Euro-influenced posture but designed for U.S. markets, the window has been gaining traction in a variety of commercial sectors since it was introduced in 2011, the company reports. To expand on the opportunities, the company launched a new configuration that incorporates individual HVAC units within the frame, a popular option for hotel guest rooms.
Deceuninck once again also featured its Genius Dual Sash window system, introduced last year. Additinal highlights at the show included new color and style options to help fabricators and dealers capture evolving market trends, and introduce several enhancements to its recycling program.

The Sheerframe system for curtain wall/storefront applications combines the advantages of aluminum structural members with vinyl windows and doors. Featured by L.B. Plastics in Atlanta, the system can incorporate fixed, projected, awning, hoppere, casement and tilt/turn windows, as well as single- and double-leaf doors equipped with tradtional commercial hardware or multipoint locking systems. Delivering energy saving performance, window and door units accept ⅛- to 2-inch glazing and mechanical thermal breaks for the aluminum grid system. Fabrication is said to be simple with 90° cuts that accept fittings for easy assembly of joints and attachment to the structure. Once the assembly is secured, the fenestration units are installed directly into to grid system using conventional fasteners, then additional capping is added to provide greater installation security and finish capping on the exterior. Because of its simplicity, the system greatly reduces time spent on the job site and lessens the inconvenience of the project construction to those in the building, according to the supplier.

OmniCor, a new technology for the assembly of fiberglass sash and frame members, was introduced at the Omniglass booth in Atlanta. The system provides for automated clamping of sash and frame, then injection of a rapid-cure, self-leveling urethane, replacing typical corner keys. The adhesive cures to a solid in less than 30 seconds, allowing fabrication of a full sash or frame in approximately 2 minutes, depending on the level of automation, the supplier reports. The technology is said to deliver improved performance with lower labor and material costs. The supplier will also feature a new patio door system, its complete line of window systems and custom pultrusions.
