Survey Results for 06/17/2009:

Compared to Ducker industry estimates, I think my company will:

See some growth before the overall industry.

43%

Likely recover at about the same pace.

41%

Take a bit longer than the rest of the industry to reverse the current trend.

16%

Ducker has made its predictions, and it seems as if that may have been no easy task this time around. It's probably pretty tough to make sweeping generalizations about the entire industry when there's such a spread in performance and outlook among individual companies.

The majority of the folks weighing in on our poll this week—nearly 85 percent—are guessing their companies will recover at approximately the same pace as or slightly ahead of the industry in general. That means most companies will not see solid numbers until at least 2010, leaving them to continue struggling in the back half of this year. About 16 percent are even more worrisome, predicting that it may take their companies even longer than the average to come out of this economic pothole.

One reader sums up the situation fairly well: "From what I am hearing, Ducker may have the trends right but the degree of success for individual companies is split very broadly. Some manufacturers are still slow while others are having record months."

Let's hope the continuing months see more window and door companies joining his latter category of having record months and leaving the "still slow" label behind.
