What Kind of Growth Do You See Ahead?

Survey Results for 01/20/2010: 

What level of growth do you see for your company in 2010?

20 percent or more

More than half our respondents see growth of more than 10 percent for 2010.  That sounds pretty good at first blush.  Let's face it, however.  Even 20 percent won't get a lot of companies anywhere near the sales levels they saw in 2005 or 2006.  But it's certainly better than another down year. 

That was sentiment I heard when I happened to run into two suppliers at the IBS show in Las Vegas. They were were chatting about the year ahead.  Both predicted about 10 percent growth for this year.  And both also admited to only budgeting for about 5 percent increase.

That's cautious optimism, with emphasis on the "cautious."   I'm certainly glad things are picking up, but it's hard not to be cautious.
