84 Lumber to Close 20 Stores
After closing about 60 stores earlier this year, 84 Lumber Co. will close another 20 stores this year, the company confirmed on Thursday.
The company will close two stores in Michigan, three in Pennsylvania, four in Kentucky, two in Georgia and one each in Alabama, California, Indiana, Maryland, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, South Carolina and Virginia. Some stores will be consolidated to maintain coverage in their service areas, while the company is exiting some markets due to extremely low housing starts and other considerations.
Robyn Hall, public relations manager for 84 Lumber, said the closings would affect about 160 employees, although those in multiple store markets would have opportunities to move to nearby locations.
