Friedman Adds Windflite and PMC to Broaden Software Offerings
In back-to-back acquisitions, Friedman Corp. has added Windflite Computer Systems Inc. and PMC Software Inc. to expand its software portfolio. Windflite is the provider of Winsys software systems for small to mid-sized window and door makers. PMC offers a variety of specialized software systems for fenestration and flat glass processors.
Friedman plans to position offer both product lines alongside its own Frontier made-to-order ERP systems.
“This acquisition demonstrates our long-term commitment to serving the windows and door manufacturing software segment," says Eric Herrmann, Friedman CFO, speaking of the Windflite purchase. "It will further strengthen our leading position in this vertical [market] by providing platform alternatives and solutions that can be better suited for smaller to mid-sized manufacturers, thus expanding our market reach."
Speaking of PMC, Herrmann notes that the supplier brings a broad set of specialized products that are integral to glass and fenestration production. The products are highly complementary to Friedman’s ERP offerings, Frontier and Winsys, and they will extend our functional footprint and enhance value-add to customers. We are looking forward to working with the highly experienced and expert team at PMC in Flemington, N.J.”
The Winsys product line will be managed and supported by existing Windflite personnel out of Peoria, Ill., with significant sales, marketing, and product development collaboration with Friedman. "We
are thrilled to add another level of depth of significant industry knowledge and experience to the Friedman group,” Herrmann states.
“This alignment will enable us to be a stronger software and service provider," says Andy Hodge, Windflite founder and now heading up the WInsys product line at Friedman. "It will create immediate opportunities to enhance Winsys support and product development as well as drive growth of the Winsys customer community. Our two organizations have already begun to implement an integration plan which includes continued uninterrupted support, enhancement of the product, and expanded sales and marketing.”
“We are very pleased to have PMC become an integral part of the Friedman solutions offerings," states Paul Christian, PMC founder and president. "Glass and window fabrication is a very specialized trade that requires not only specialized tools, processes, and software, it also requires a strong focused solution provider that can address requirements in an integrated manner along the whole value chain. We see our acquisition by Friedman as being a major step in that direction—one that will bring
more value to glass and window manufacturers.”
Based in Deerfield, Ill., Friedman plans to showcase the new Winsys and PMC products at GlassBuild America, September 30-October 2, in Atlanta.
