Haddon Launches Dual Pane R-5 Windows
Haddon Windows & Doors reports it is the first to offer an R-5 window manufactured using traditional dual-pane construction. To introduce the new line, the Bensalem, Pa.-based manufacturer has also initiated a program with dealers in more than a dozen states to launch its 6600 series double hung at a special price of $499 installed.
The new 6600 Series vinyl window has achieved an NFRC-certifed U-factor rating of .22 and a solar heat gain coefficient rating of 0.18, qualiftying under the guidelins for operable windows in the Department of Energy's R-5 window volume purchase program, according to the company. This energy rating was achieved by directly mounting Haddon’s new Accu-Glaze high performance glass into a highly efficient frame design, eliminating the traditional spacer altogether, the manufacturer explains.
“When Secretary of Energy Steven Chu visited our plant, we discussed the benefits of R-5 and the challenges of achieving R-5 in a traditional dual-pane product," says Sam Jadallah, Haddon's chairman. "Today, we are excited to be the first to announce that capability and to make R-5 energy efficiency more affordable and more accessible to homeowners.“
"We're excited to partner with our dealer network for this introductory offer of the 6600 Series," adds Larry Haddon, Haddon's national sales director. "R-5 in a simple, double-pane design is a breakthrough and delivering it at $499 is the stimulus plan homeowners want so they can lower their energy bills this winter."
“Haddon puts R-5 within reach for homeowners," adds John Briggs, president of MidSouth Building Supply, a Haddon dealer in Beltsville, Md. "The 6600 saves money now, lowers energy usage in the future and delivers the best ROI for our customers. This is the most exciting product we’ve seen this year.”
"Other dealers in this market sell an R-5 qualified triple-pane window for $1,000 installed," reports Brad Rose of Contractor's Siding in Hamilton, Ohio. "That window is heavier to operate and harder to install. The price-performance of this offer is sure to ignite homeowner interest."
"Our dealers are looking for ways to improve the homeowner experience in buying windows. It should be a positive experience from start to finish," says John Haddon Jr., Haddon president. Pointing to the window's high performance and the low, no-haggle pricing, he adds, "This program is designed to offer just that."
Haddon, which was previously known as Accu-Weld, is currently offering the new window through dealers in Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Alabama and Georgia. The special $499 installed pricing is scheduled to be offered through October.
