Jeld-Wen Closing Oshkosh Door Plant
Jeld-Wen Inc. plans to close its door manufacturing plant in Oshkosh, Wis., on Aug. 7, according to an article on a local newspaper's Web site.
The Oshkosh Northwestern reports the window and door manufacturer issued a statement attributing the decision to economic downturn and continuing price pressure from imported doors.
Jeld-Wen came to Oshkosh in 1998 when it acquired the former Morgan Door Co. It had constructed a new manufacturing plant that was opened in 1998. Morgan employed about 370 people when it was acquired. The plant now employs 79, according to the local paper.
