John H. Myers & Son, a York, Pa.-based building product distributor, has became part of US LBM, a collection of building products distributors serving the Midwest, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic in eight states with more than 35 locations. Owned by private equity group BlackEagle Partners, US LBM say it is one one of the fastest-growing suppliers of building products in the United States.

With six operations in south central Pennsylvania and northern Maryland, Myers carries windows and doors from Andersen, Jeld-Wen, Marvin, Ply Gem, Simpson and Therma Tru, as well as Schlage door hardware. It operates showrooms in Aberdeen, Md., and Camp Hill, Chambersburg, Hanover and York, Pa. Serving builders, remodelers, and consumers, the York-based company reported 2010 sales of more than $55 million.

US LBM was attracted to Myers due to its leading position as a partner to custom and regional homebuilders as well as professional remodelers, officials state. Myers will continue to operate as John H. Myers & Son with its same workforce and base of retail locations, with US LBM providing  capital and back office support to enable growth, it is reported.

“The Myers family has established a terrific reputation in the building products industry," says LT Gibson, US LBM CEO of US LBM. "Their customer base, product breadth, and superior service model all align nicely with our strategic profile. We are excited about their growth potential going forward.”

“John H. Myers & Son has played an important role in the growth of our communities since its founding in 1916. My family and I are excited about this new chapter for the company," says Bob Myers III, a fourth-generation family owner, who will continue to be a part of the senior leadership team. "Our customers, vendors, and employees will benefit from our ability to access resources made available by a partnership with US LBM.”

“For this last six years I have enjoyed leading the Myers team of highly respected building products sales and service professionals," adds Bob Wood, Myers president. "I look forward to leveraging the knowledge of LT Gibson and the other operating company presidents within US LBM that will allow us to enhance its range of solutions for our customers.”

Started in 2009, US LBM was created with the acquisition of Stock Building Supply operations in three markets, including Wisconsin Building Supply; East Haven Building Supply in Connecticut, and Bellevue Builders Supply based in Upstate New York. Since that time, it has added Universal Supply Co., Edward Hines Lumber and Millwood Lumber.
