Veka Inc. has launched Veka Essentials, an iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad app, available for free download on the Apple iTunes Store.

Said to be the first app from a vinyl window and door extrusion company, it lets users watch videos through its YouTube feed, and provides updates on current events and recent news, as well as technical articles, a photo gallery and a Twitter feed. In addition, it provides contact information, and provides map directions to Veka plants, the supplier notes.

"As part of an ongoing theme, we are once again focused on educating our customer base through the latest technology," says Steve Dillon, Veka corporate marketing director. "It has been quite a process, learning how to create Apps to meet the exacting requirements standardized by Apple. With that being said, it was worth enduring the learning curve."

Apps for Blackberry and Android will also be available next year, with the goal in the future is to allow customers access their online ordering process through the Veka Essentials app, Dillon reports.
