The Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec is acquiring a stake in Novatech Group Inc., investing $16.7 million (CDN) into the producer of doors and door components. Soft-Lite LLC, a vinyl window manufacturer based in Streetsboro, Ohio, has reached an agreement to acquire the product lines of Gorell Windows & Doors LLC. Gorell, based in Indiana, Pa., entered receivership last week with The Meridian Group, a Pittsburgh-based turnaround firm, appointed receiver.

Allied Windows in British Columbia is being closed by the Atis Group, but the Canadian window and door manufacturer plans to invest $3 million to expand operations in several other locations, according to an article in the Montreal Gazette.

Jeld-Wen Inc. is planning to close a pre-hanging and distribution facility in North Wilkesboro, N.C., in March. The facility, acquired by the door and window manufacturer in 2006, employs about 60 people.

A company attorney is telling local news media that Twinsburg, Ohio-based Regency Window Co. is closed for good.
