Oregon-based Jeld-Wen Inc. plans to open a composite doorskin manufacturing operation in North Wilkesboro, N.C., according to a press release from the Wilkes Economic Development Corp. The expansion will create about 50 new jobs and generate a capital investment of $4.8 million in production equipment and facility improvements at the manufacturers' existing facility in the city.

Beginning with the 2013 edition, Hanley Wood Exhibitions is changing the education and exhibit schedules of its annual Remodeling Show, as well as the co-located DeckExpo. The exhibit hall will be open for two days, rather than three, and the the education program will be changed from four days to three.

Passed at the beginning of the new year to avoid tax increases for most Americans, as well as siginificant, across-the-board spending cuts, the American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 is bringing back energy efficient tax credits for windows, doors and skylights.
