The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with G-U Hardware, announced a voluntary recall of the hardware supplier's tilt-turn stay arms and side-hung sash hinges. In a November 28 release, CPSC officials advised consumers to stop using the recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

The American Architectural Manufacturers Association has updated its AAMA 520-12 Voluntary Specification for Rating the Severe Wind-Driven Rain Resistance of Windows, Doors and Unit Skylights.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency sent out a letter today announcing final recognition criteria for the Energy Star Most Efficient 2013 program for 11 product categories, including windows. Reflecting changes put forward in a second draft at the end of October, the final criteria include:
