The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has released a new North American security screen standard, “Specification for Security Screen Products,” AAMA 1901-25. This standard defines expected performance from products marketed as security screens.
How Quanex products meet this standard
With homeowners increasingly seeking to enhance the security of properties, the standard is timely. Security screens offer traditional benefits like insect deterrence, visibility and fresh air flow, while providing enhanced protection via high-tensile, stainless steel woven mesh.
Quanex Fortify Security Series screens, which meet AAMA 1901-25 performance expectations, feature Meshtec technology and benefits including superior impact resistance to both pets and intruders, granting homeowners an added level of protection. More products are in development within the Fortify Series line.

What Quanex leadership says
“To date, available security products for windows and doors have included unsightly bars and other measures that aren’t typically aligned with high-end aesthetic appeal,” says Adam Wilson, Vice President of Sales and Business Development, Quanex. “Providing security and peace of mind was the driving force behind the development of our Fortify Security Series, all while offering optimal aesthetics and the typical benefits of high-quality window and door screens.”
“Testing, validation and quality assurance are foundational to high-performance window and door products,” adds Wilson. “This standard gives window and door OEMs proof that their products represent true security enhancements, which can be a significant and attractive value add for today’s homeowners.”
