WDMA Announces Congressional Speakers for Legislative Conference

The Window & Door Manufacturers Association announced Congressional speakers for its Spring Virtual Meetings & Legislative Conference, taking place March 10, March 17 and March 24 from 2 to 4:30 p.m. ET each day. 

Registered WDMA members will have free access to all three days of programming. Each day of the conference will concentrate on separate issues based on WDMA's legislative priorities. Day one will focus on general WDMA updates, legislative priorities and a Washington outlook. For days two-three, attendees will log in to the programming focused on housing affordability, energy, labor and safety policy. Registered attendees will receive an email prior to the conference with registration links for each session.

March 17 Congressional Speakers

Representative Tom Emmer (R-MN)
House Financial Services Committee
Congressman Emmer is serving his fourth term in the House while representing Minnesota’s 6th congressional district. He is a member of the House GOP Leadership team as the Chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee for the 117th Congress. Currently, he sits on the House Financial Services Committee which has primary jurisdiction over the nation’s housing and monetary policy. 

Representative David Schweikert (R-AZ)
House Ways and Means Committee
Congressman Schweikert has served Arizona in the House of Representatives since 2011. He is currently a member of the House Ways and Means Committee which has primary jurisdiction over the nation’s tax and trade policy. He also serves as Ranking Member of the bicameral Joint Economic Committee which is tasked with recommending legislative solutions to improve the U.S. economy.  

Also on March 17 is Housing Policy: What to Expect This Year, presented by James W. Tobin III, executive vice president for government affairs and chief lobbyist at the National Association of Home Builders. Tobin will discuss housing policy in 2021, including what to expect from both the House and Senate, along with what the impacts of any potential legislation may be on the window, door and skylight industry.

Also on March 24 is Labor, Safety and Health Policy and What Manufacturers Can Expect, with featured speaker Marc Freedman, vice president, employment policy, U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The session will focus on workplace safety, paid leave, health care and immigration, among other topics.
