Most Innovative Manufacturing Process 2023

YKK AP manufacturing plant

The Product

YKK AP produces its own vinyl resins for extrusion, and it does so with an integrated production system with zero-waste. YKK AP takes the meaning of innovation by extending beyond “what” it manufactures to “how it manufactures it. It uses zero-emission initiatives, energy-efficient product transport and increased recycling rates, for example, to strive for the most sustainable development possible. It works to perpetually minimize its carbon dioxide emissions across manufacturing, sales and distribution processes. It actively invests in energy-saving technology and works to cut the amount of energy used per-unit weight of products shipped. Its ability to custom extrude its own vinyl profiles with polyvinyl chloride, or PVC, enables YKK AP to provide exact specifications for vinyl windows and doors, along with high-performance and quality. It also ensures improved energy efficiency and long-term durability. These positive steps toward sustainable manufacturing help the company balance ecology and economy, improving the environment and society over the long term.
