Continuing Education

GlassBuild America offers a plethora of education opportunities

GlassBuild AmericaI’m writing this as my oldest child is in his first month of first grade. He’s still of the misconception that his education has a finite number of years. That there will be a finish line, a moment where he knows it all.

As adults, we know better. Education is a lifelong pursuit. Now that most of us are settled into our careers—after all, we all know once we’re in this industry, we’re in it to stay—we have the privilege of continuing our education and even shaping the education of the industry for each other and future generations.

I think, and hope, education is a huge reason why most of you are packing for Orlando this November to attend the can’t-miss glass and fenestration event of the year. GlassBuild America is one of the top events each year where window and door professionals gather to do just that: Educate and be educated.

Here are just a few of the educational opportunities I’m looking forward to:

Main Stage. This year’s Main Stage programming is filled with can’t-miss sessions addressing everything from supply chain, codes and standards, workforce development, economic forecasts, networking events, and more. Join me in the audience on day two for Chris Beard of John Burns Research and Consulting’s report, featuring the latest data from the Window & Door Market Survey. Stefanie Couch from Grit Blueprint is also back to host the Women in Glass & Fenestration networking event and panel discussion on the last day of the show.

LIVE! At GlassBuild: Podcast Stage. Be sure to swing by the podcast stage to see what conversations are happening and listen in. Window Cast and Glass Cast will host many guests, including the trendsetters, influencers and subject-matter experts in the glass and fenestration space.

Booth visits. Booth visits aren’t in the formal educational lineup, but this is where a lot of the magic happens for me. This is where I see machinery in action, get software demonstrations, examine profiles and components in person, and hear from the experts about how they’re made and why they matter.

I hope to see you in Orlando in November. Send me an email to lcowin@glass.org; I’d love to schedule time to learn from you.
