Most Innovative Window or Door Component| insulbar ESPOC
Nominating Company: Ensinger Inc.
insulbar with Electro Static Potential Optimized Coating (ESPOC) is a post-extrusion surface treatment that functions as a painting primer. This treatment increases the electrical conductivity of the polyamide surface without altering its thermal performance.
By enabling electrostatic powder coatings to adhere to the polyamide surface in the same way they adhere to aluminum, ESPOC allows thermal break profiles to receive consistent, high-quality architectural finishes in a single coating pass. This improves coating uniformity and reduces the need for secondary processes or manual correction. The innovation is not simply improved coating adhesion, say Ensinger officials. ESPOC removes a long-standing design constraint in thermally broken fenestration systems. System designers can now place polyamide thermal breaks wherever they provide the greatest thermal benefit, rather than limiting their placement to concealed areas. This expands design flexibility and enables new approaches to thermal optimization within window and door systems.
