Andluca’s Innovio Glass integrates UV-harvesting capability directly into the glass so windows can generate and store energy within the system itself. Innovio Glass integrates energy generation, system compatibility and added functionality into a single fenestration product—expanding the role of windows while remaining aligned with how the industry currently designs, fabricates and installs window systems.
Innovio converts ultraviolet light into usable electricity that is stored in the window frame, allowing powered features to operate without hardwiring or battery replacement. This functionality is achieved while maintaining high visible light transmission and compatibility with standard low-emissivity configurations, allowing the product to be incorporated into conventional insulating glass units without requiring changes to established fabrication or specification practices. Innovio also features a laminated interlayer, delivering additional including enhanced security and improved acoustic performance.
For window manufacturers and fabricators, this represents a shift toward self-powered window systems that can support sensors, controls and other smart features without additional electrical coordination. By eliminating the need for wiring through framing systems or building interiors, Innovio simplifies installation and reduces complexity. The optional SafeFlight UV layer adds bird-friendly performance without altering the appearance of the glass. Rated to the American Bird Conservancy standards, the solution has undergone testing for efficacy and demonstrates threat factor performance.
