Energy Department to Collect Two Years of Energy Star Window Shipment Data in 2027

The U.S. Department of Energy plans to collect both 2025 and 2026 Energy Star unit shipment data for windows, doors and skylights during the first quarter of 2027, according to the Window & Door Manufacturers Association.

The combined collection is intended to bring the program’s annual reporting back on schedule as administration of Energy Star moves from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the Energy Department, the association told its members.

The Energy Department plans to notify all Energy Star partners of the data collection requirements within the next two weeks, according to the association.

The Window & Door Manufacturers Association and the Fenestration and Glass Industry Alliance will again coordinate the collection on behalf of participating manufacturers. The two groups will anonymize and combine the data before submitting it to the Energy Department and its data collection contractor, ICF. Individual manufacturers’ figures will not be shared with the department or ICF, the association said.

The association said it will release details on the reporting process, schedule and submission instructions as they become available.
