Falkenstein North America, the U.S. arm of German pocket door hardware manufacturer Falkenstein, announced the launch of Push-Two-Soft, a damping system that eliminates the wide minimum door width required by conventional dual dampers.

Standard dual-sided dampers on the market require a substantial minimum door width, often ruling them out for powder rooms, closets, laundry rooms, and other tight spaces where narrow doors are common, say company officials. Push-Two-Soft removes that constraint: it damps both the opening and closing motion of doors as narrow as 24 inches — and does so with push-to-open functionality built directly into the same mechanism, with no additional components required.
The integrated push-to-open function also solves a common pocket door pain point: retrieving a door that sits flush inside the wall pocket. Conventional solutions are either finger pulls or edge pulls — which are often impractical to grip and can compromise the clean, flush look of the door — or specialty flush- mounted hardware, which comes at a significant added cost. With push-to- open built into Push-Two-Soft, a simple push against the door releases it back out of the pocket, so no additional pull hardware is needed at all.
"With Push-Two-Soft, builders no longer have to compromise on narrow doors to get premium soft-close performance," says Stephan Foehr, Sales Director, Falkenstein North America. "This is the first system on the market to combine soft-close, soft-open, and push-to-open in a single mechanism — and it works down to 24 inches on both sides of the door.
