Jeld-Wen plans to close a factory in Chiloquin, Oregon, by the end of the year and lay off all 128 people who work there, according to reporting by The Oregonian.
Closure details
Jeld-Wen notified state employment officials of the pending closure in a notice Thursday. The company said layoffs will begin on June 30 and be complete by December.
“While decisions that impact people are never easy, we make them only after careful consideration and with the understanding that our actions today are necessary to position Jeld-Wen for long-term success,” says company spokesperson Katie Lynkins.
Jeld-Wen will move the work done in Chiloquin to other sites. Lynkins says Jeld-Wen will offer laid-off workers a severance package and job placement assistance.
