Pagen has introduced Drive axxent LS, a motorized drive that fits inside Aluron aluminum lift-and-slide door systems and automates the opening and closing of large glass doors.

The drive is built into the door frame and is not visible once installed, according to the company. It is compatible with Aluron’s AS 178HS Pro Slim and AS 178HS Modern systems and can move door panels weighing up to 400 kilograms (about 880 pounds).

Users operate the standard version with a push button. A SMART version can also be controlled through a mobile app.

The company says the drive slides doors at up to 140 millimeters (about 5.5 inches) per second. A built-in battery allows up to 120 opening and closing cycles during a power outage. The system also detects obstacles in the door’s path and locks the door automatically at three points.

Pagen said the product responds to rising demand for automated large glass doors, which are common in contemporary residential and commercial architecture but can be difficult to open by hand because of their weight.
